Fort Bend County Libraries has new programs specifically designed for teens in grades 9 through 12. The programs will provide fun and challenging opportunities for these young adults, who are also encouraged to become active participants in designing and orchestrating new activities for teens in the library system.

In June, George Memorial Library in Richmond will present several programs for the Young Adult (YA) community.

•YA DIY Bleached T-Shirts – Friday, June 8, 2:00 pm, Room 2C. Teens in grades 9-12 are invited to bring a plain, colored t-shirt and create of one-of-a-kind design with bleach!

•YA Book Club – Wednesday, June 13, 5:00 pm, Room 2B. Teen readers in grades 9 through 12 will have an opportunity to meet with others who share the same love for good books, and have a lively discussion on the reasons a book or its characters were liked or disliked. In June, readers will discuss Symphony for the City of the Dead, written by M.T. Anderson.

•YA Art Hour – Fridays, June 15 and 29, 2:00 pm, Room 2C. Teens in grades 9-12 can explore their inner artist and discover new ways to express themselves!

•YA Bath Bombs & Sugar Scrubs Workshop – Friday, June 22, 2:00 pm, Room 2C.
Teens in grades 9-12 will learn how to make bath products using common household goods and natural ingredients.

Materials for these programs were made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the George Memorial Library. Proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales and annual membership dues help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at George Memorial Library.

These programs are free and open to the public. For more information, call George Memorial Library at 281-342-4455 or the library system’s Communications Office at 281-633-4734.
