Fort Bend County Libraries offers programs specifically designed for high school-aged teens in grades 9 through 12. The programs provide fun and challenging opportunities for these young adults, who are also encouraged to become active participants in designing and orchestrating new activities for teens in the library system.

In May, the Sienna Branch Library will have the following programs for the Young Adult community.

•YA Animé Binge – Thursday, May 3, 4:00-5:00 pm, Young Adult Room. Teens in grades 9 through 12 can watch and discuss episodes of animé.

•YA Exam Cram! – Saturday, May 5, 4:00-5:00 pm, Young Adult Room. In this come-and-go study period, teens in grades 9 through 12 will be provided quiet study space, snacks, and de-stressing activities for breaks.

•YA Make It! Magazine Silhouettes – Thursday, May 10, 10:00 am-4:30 pm, Young Adult Room. Teens in grades 9 through 12 will create wall art from cardboard and recycled magazines. Choose from several different silhouettes and fill them in with strips from recycled magazines to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Registration required.

•Young Adult Book Club – Wednesday, May 16, 4:00-5:00 pm, Young Adult Room. Teen readers in grades 9 through 12 will have the opportunity to meet with others who share the same love for great books, and have a lively discussion on the reasons a book or its characters were liked or disliked. In May, readers will discuss The Rest of Us Just Live Here, a novel written by Patrick Ness.

•Careers in Focus: Military Careers – Saturday, May 19, 10:30 am-12:30 pm, Young Adult Room. A panel of professionals in different military fields will share their experiences working in their career choices. This program will include presentations, a Q&A session, and break-out sessions.

•Young Adult Advisory Council – Wednesday, May 23, 4:00-5:00 pm, Young Adult Room. At this monthly meeting, teens are invited to express ideas, organize upcoming activities, and suggest new programs that would be of interest to young adults at the library. Earn volunteer/service hours and meet new friends while helping to shape the future of library services for teens!

•YA Game Night – Tuesday, May 29, 6:00-8:00 pm, Young Adult Room. Teens in grades 9 through 12 can take a break from studying and relax with a variety of board games, video games, card games, and snacks.

These programs are free and open to the public. To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Events,” select “Sienna Branch,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-238-2952, or by visiting the library.
