Fort Bend County Libraries has new programs specifically designed for teens in grades 9 through 12. The programs will provide fun and challenging opportunities for these young adults, who are also encouraged to become active participants in designing and orchestrating new activities for teens in the library system.

In February, George Memorial Library in Richmond will present three programs for the Young Adult (YA) teen community.

•“Anti-Valentine’s Day Party for Teens” – Tuesday, February 13, 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Room 2A. Teens in grades 9-12 who are sick of seeing all the lovey-dovey mushy stuff can “uncelebrate” Valentine’s Day with crafts, food, and fun at this Anti-Valentine’s Day Party! Materials for this event are made possible by the Friends of the George Memorial Library.

•YA Book Club – Wednesday, February 14, 5:00 pm, Room 2B. Teen readers in grades 9 through 12 will have an opportunity to meet with others who share the same love for good books, and have a lively discussion on the reasons a book or its characters were liked or disliked. In February, the book to be discussed is Zenn Diagram, written by Wendy Brant.

•YA Advisory Council – Wednesday, February 21, 5:00 pm, Room 2B. At this monthly meeting, teens in grades 9 through 12 are invited to express ideas, organize upcoming activities, and suggest new programs that would be of interest to young adults at the library. Earn volunteer/service hours and meet new friends while helping to shape the future of library services for teens!

These programs are free and open to the public. For more information, call George Memorial Library at 281-342-4455.

George Memorial Library is located at 1001 Golfview in Richmond.
